FranklinCovey enters this Baseline in an unusual position. Every leading indicator points up while the headline number just moved down. Consolidated deferred revenue grew 7% to $96 million, North America billed deferred revenue climbed 18%, and revenue retention sits at its highest level in years, yet management cut FY2026 revenue guidance from $265 million to $275 million down to $260 million to $267 million in July 2026. Shares fell 12.9% in a single day on the news, even though EPS beat consensus by 41.7%.
One thing worth flagging: the gap between the forward indicators and the guidance cut plays out against two risks management does not control. A Southeastern state cut $2 million from a Leader in Me contract mid-year, and the newly combined Coursera and Udemy entity, 290 million learners and $1.5 billion in revenue, is internally flagged as the company's most dangerous future competitor. This Dossier lays out what would resolve each question, and why neither is settled by the public record alone.
Sources and Methods
Dossiers are built from primary documents: SEC filings, earnings call and investor day transcripts, management presentations, press releases, and trade press. We also work the channels where product and operating problems surface before they reach an earnings call, including App Store, Google Play, and Trustpilot reviews, and structured sentiment research on Reddit Answers. Equity analyst commentary is used to map where the sell side disagrees and is treated as opinion, not evidence.
The Intelligence Council is editorially independent. No company reviews a Dossier before publication.
The Dossier is for the people who run the education ecosystem: institutional leaders, workforce and L&D buyers, and the founders, investors, and GTM executives who sell to them.
