This week’s institutional case study is on Kennesaw State University.
The 2015 consolidation with Southern Polytechnic State University added engineering capacity, a second campus, and research infrastructure in a single move. Over the following decade, KSU used those capabilities to scale enrollment to more than 51,000 students and achieve Carnegie R2 research status.
The result is a useful case study for leaders asking a difficult question: can a regional university build research capacity without flagship funding?
KSU’s strategy offers one possible answer.
